CCU Container Inspection — Oil & Gas

Cargo Carrying Units (CCU) are containers and frames used to transport equipment and materials to and from offshore installations. They are subject to strict safety regulations due to the hazardous environments in which they operate.

Our CCU Certification

Suriname Container Safety N.V. is certified to inspect and approve CCU containers for use in the oil and gas sector. Our inspectors are qualified to assess CCU units against the applicable international standards, ensuring they are safe for lifting, transport, and offshore use.

Definition

What is a CCU Inspection?

A CCU inspection covers a thorough visual examination and — where required — non-destructive testing (NDT) of the container's structural components. This includes lifting points, welds, corner fittings, and all load-bearing elements.

Applicable Standards

  • ISO 10855
Offshore containers and associated lifting sets
  • CCU & ISO
    In accordance with international standards

Inspected against internationally recognized offshore standards.

What We Inspect

  • Structural integrity and condition of the unit
  • Lifting eyes, padeyes, and sling arrangements
  • Welds — visual and NDT where applicable
  • Doors, locks, and access points
  • Markings, identification stickers, and load ratings
  • General compliance with applicable offshore standards

Inspection Frequency

CCU containers used offshore require annual visual inspections. Additional load tests and NDT examinations are required after repairs or modifications. Our team will advise you on the correct schedule for your units.
